The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued its first drought statement of the new year today and it actually has some good news!!!! Thanks to the rains of December we have seen a slight improvement in our drought conditions. Metro Atlanta is now in an 'Extreme' drought rather than an 'Exceptional' drought. Now, north of the metro area we are still looking at an 'Exceptional' drought because the heavy rains at the end of last year were mainly from the metro area southward.
In the above picture at the top of this blog you can see where we stand today versus my entry below where you can see where we were.
Still, do not get too excited as according to the drought outlook, we are not expected to see much improvement over the months ahead.
Have a great day and stay warm!
