low lakes...

As we all know, we are in a drought crisis here in the metro area. Lakes all over northern Georgia are drying up. Above is a picture sent to me by a viewer who was visiting family in Carroll County. It is where Hwy 61 crosses the lake. Lake Carroll is not alone. Lakes Lanier is 14ft below full pool and just 22ft away from being at the critical level of not being able to draw drinking water from the lake. According to the State EPD that could happen by February of next year without significant rainfall.

To keep up with the latest on the area lake levels you can click here. The levels are updated every morning.

Remember, that we all need to conserve our most valuable resource. For a list of creative conservation ideas log onto Conserve Water Georgia.

In the mean time... pray for rain!
