out and about...

Ever since I moved to Atlanta my wife and I have always tried to make Friday night 'date night.' This past Friday we went to the High Museum for their Friday Night Jazz series. This is a fun event where they open the High on the third Friday or each month. My wife and I have a membership to the High, but because our off days are Monday/Tuesday and the High is closed on Monday's it makes it tough to get the most of our membership. That's why we try and do the Friday night thing when we can so we can get out and see some of the great exhibits.

This time we were able to see the Annie Leibovitz and Cecilia Beaux exhibits. The Leibovitz exhibit was cool because of the all the celebrity photos that were in it. While Beaux was more of what I would call a more traditional American artist. Both exhibits were on the same floor so one just kinda flowed right into the other.

After the art and jazz we had worked up quite an appetite so we decided to give a relatively new restaurant in midtown a try, JCT Kitchen. My wife and I love southern fair and JCT is the latest in 'high end' southern cooking. We were not disappointed and I would certainly recommend giving it a try. My shrimp and grits definitely got a big thumbs up!

Not much is planned for my upcoming off days. I have a softball game Tuesday night, but that remains to be seen. We have been rained out of more games than we have played so far this summer! I know it sounds strange. I will blog more about that later in the week.

Have a great week!
