Hands on...

Typically I like to sleep in on Saturday mornings. Since I have to stay at work until midnight Saturday night and my wife works on Saturday... I have no reason to get out of bed. I typically relax, do some laundry, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. This Saturday though was different....

As part of Guiding Light's 70th Anniversary they are traveling around the country doing volunteer work. This Saturday they were in Atlanta where they teamed up with Hands On Atlanta.

I joined about 100 volunteers up in Roswell to renovate several homes for people that are getting back on their feet. Despite the early start and my limited experience with any type of tool, we had a fantastic time. Barney was the leader for the team I was on. Talk about a man that knew what he was doing! He was a great organizer and agreat leader. I guess the proof was in the fact that no one had to go to the first aid station and we actually finished a little early! I was also joined by fellow CBS46er, Kim Fettig, as well as Guiding Light star, Marcy Rylan. In about 3 hours we completely gutted a home. We removed all the wood, dry wall, carpet, padding, tile... everything, including the kitchen sink! :-)

Kim and I were surprised with all we were able to accomplish! Should our TV careers not work out, we may have a future in demolition! :-)

A great time was had by all and I want to thank everyone for inviting me as well as for their help. For our new friends at Guiding Light I want to thank them for choosing Atlanta as one of their cities where they are volunteering. To read more about their efforts you can click here for... Have a great time!
