thank you...

I am happy to say that I have finished all my wedding thank you notes!!

If you have ever been married you know how gratifying that accomplishment is! Even though I have always been pretty good with thank you notes it still feels good to be done.

In under 2 months I knocked out 43 thank yous. Ask my wife if she is done!?! :-) Granted she had 100+ on her list, but lets be honest it's who finishes first that matters most, right?

Of course I owe my parents some thanks because I can remember as a kid how my parents would stay on me until I got those thank yous written. Mom and dad gave us 1 month from the birthday, Christmas, or whatever to get those thank yous written. If I stalled, then my punishment was to have to write them all at once. After 10+ thank yous in one sitting as a kid the pain in my wrist rivaled that of ancient war tortures.

I started thinking as I wrote my wedding thank yous whether I would be a part of the last generation to write thank you notes? Will my children e-mail their thank yous? Or by then will it be done by mental telepathy? I suppose I could have e-mailed some of mine, but many of the people that sent us gifts are older and not as cyber savvy. But everyone in future generations will be well versed in e-mail. Maybe I am old fashioned, but nothing beats a hand written letter. Nothing is more unique than someone's hand writing. You can tell a lot about someone by their hand writing that you can not get from something typed like this blog entry.

When I speak to schools I love getting hand written thank you notes. I actually have saved every one I have gotten in my career. Thank yous from children are priceless. Whenever I read them they are always good for heart felt sentiment or even a chuckle!

So although I have finished my wedding thank yous I know that this will not be the last of my thank you notes. Remember, Christmas is around the corner. :-)

Have a great week!
