Speaking to Schools...

My favorite part of my job is going out and speaking. I do not care if it's civic groups or kids... I love to share my passion for weather and my job. I have always enjoyed the public speaking part of my job because I know as a kid I would have loved to have met any of the meteorologists I grew up watching here in Atlanta.

Ever since 3rd or 4th grade I knew I wanted to be a meteorologist. I kept my interest and zeal for weather despite the fact that the first meteorologist I ever met was when I went to Florida State.

Back in June I was invited to speak to Heritage Baptist Church's summer camp. Heritage Baptist is located in Douglasville. That sizzlin summer morning I spoke to 3 groups of kids ranging from 1st grade to 6th grade. The picture above was taken by the Douglas County Neighbor as I was talking to the kids.

So, what do I speak about when I talk to groups? Well it depends on the age and what they want to talk about honestly. For the kids at Heritage Baptists summer camp I did several weather experiments. Experiments are always fun and they make it easier to understand how something complicated, like the atmosphere, works. So even if they have no interest in the weather I can keep them entertained at least!

With the kids heading back to school I know we will start getting busy as we head out to schools across northern Georgia over the months ahead. If you want one of us to come speak to your school or civic group so not hesitate to ask us. We will be happy to do it!

Hope to see you soon!
